Picturesque Ukraine and A Visit to the Museum 2019

On May 18, 2019, O.O.Osmerkin Museum traditionally hosted cultural, art, and educational event A Visit to the Museum to International Museum Day (May 18) within the events of the museums of Kropyvnytskyi Our Singing and Picturesque Land. The events were especially festive this year because they were dedicated to several anniversaries – the 265th anniversary of the town of Kropyvnytskyi, the 30th anniversary of Kirovohrad Regional Organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, and the 25th anniversary of the museum being opened for the visitors.
The theme of International Museum Day in 2019 was the following: “Museums as cultural hubs: the future of the traditions”. O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum has been a cultural center for many years. It functions as a platform where creative work meets with knowledge, and visitors can also create and interact.
A workshop of Olha Kolomiiets, a member of the National Unions of Artists and Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine, was an incredibly interesting event. Within the art project Art Workshops on the theme Museum Patterns, she taught pupils of the Department of Visual Arts of the Children’s School of Arts under the supervision of Yurii Vintenko, the head of the Department, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, as well as students of the Department of Architecture and Town Planning of the College of Construction under the supervision of Tetiana Peniaz, the teacher, a member of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine, to reproduce a wonderful building of the museum in such decorative techniques as vytynanka and kirigami. So now, the architect Yakiv Pauchenko’s house as a lace paper handmade item will be a part of the decor of each participant of the workshop.
A project Photo Portrait in the Museum Interior was introduced at this year's event A Visit to the Museum. The project was held by a famous professional photographer, a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, Oleksandr Shuleshko. He conducted an educational photoshoot and shared secrets of his craft, portrait photography in particular. Everyone present was fascinated. To get a professional photo portrait in the historical interior feels really prestigious.
But the most important event was a presentation of the exhibition of graphic works by modern Ukrainian artists within the National Cultural and Art Project Picturesque Ukraine, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine together with the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. The project is aimed at celebration of the reburial of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko on Chernecha Mountain not far from Kaniv (May 22, 1861).
The museum holds the second exhibition of such a high level. In 2005, Picturesque Ukraine, under the auspices of the head of the Regional Organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, People’s Artists of Ukraine, Mykhailo Nadezhdin, was exhibited in two art establishments – paintings in the Regional Art Museum and graphic works in O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum. This year's exhibition was presented under the same principle. One more location was added – Gallery “Yelisavethrad” because its exposition comprises about 300 works.
Currently, the museum exhibition halls present more than 50 graphic works of well-known artists and creative youth from all regions of Ukraine, who represent tendencies of modern Ukrainian visual art.
The exhibition was opened by Yurii Rybachuk, the deputy Minister of Culture of Ukraine, who came to our town with a delegation of Ihor Voloshchuk, the director of the exhibitions of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Merited Art Worker of Ukraine, Kostiantyn Cherniavskyi, executive secretary, deputy head of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Merited Artists of Ukraine, and Yevhenia Krutoholov, deputy head of the Department of Acting and Visual Arts of the Ministry of Culture, Merited Worker of Culture of Ukraine.
The present was congratulated by Serhii Kovalenko, the first deputy head of Regional State Administration, and Andrii Palyvoda, deputy mayor. Nataliia Boiko, deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry, who also came to the vernissage during her visit to the Kirovohrad region, was fascinated by the architecture of the historical center of the steppe gem and shared her admiration with the present.
Handling of the Letter of Appreciation for active participation in the preparation and organization of the exhibition Picturesque Ukraine, signed by YevhenNyshchuk, the Minister of Culture of Ukraine, was a pleasant surprise for the museum staff.
Andrii Khvorost, the head of the Regional Organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, presented the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine with a floral still life to remember the exhibition in Kropyvnytskyi. The guests from Kyiv were pleased to sign the exhibition catalog Picturesque Ukraine.
A musical performance of Alina Leontiienko, the teacher of the Music School No.1 named after H.H.Neuhaus, who performed Prelude No.3 from the cycle Shevchenko’s Suite by Borys Liatoshynskyi, created a festive mood and honored the memory of the Great Kobza Player.
